Activites

The Caribbean is a water-sports paradise. With optimal water and weather conditions visitors and residents can readily engage in the following activities:

Scuba Diving - You may have seen underwater film and photos of tropical scuba diving destinations, but nothing compares to the first hand experience of actually drifting along a beautiful coral reef or swimming through a vast school of colorful tropical fish.

Snorkeling - Snorkeling is an activity which can be easily enjoyed by groups or families of varying swimming abilities. There are so many areas to explore and this is a terrific way to get in touch with the abundant aquatic life that resides in these Caribbean waters.

Surfing - Panama Surf is fantastic! The islands of Bocas Del Toro host many different surf breaks. The long tube sections can be found on Caranero, "silverbacks" is very powerful and barrels, "bluff" breaks close to the sandy beach and has some amazing spitting tubes. These islands pick up swells coming from many directions in the Caribbean so there is usually a wave to be caught somewhere in the archipelago. Bocas Del Toro is a great surf location.

Nearby Island Excursions - There are nearby island excursions for those who want to see something a little different. We offer day trips on the various surrounding islands that are worth checking out.

Beach & Rainforest Hikes - Bastimentos island features many hikes to area beaches. We can arrange hiking any of our beachfront or jungle properties or take a hike to Playa Larga or a guided trek through the Bastimentos National Marine Park is a great way to get in touch with the splendor of the island.

Local Ngobe Indian Village Tours - We share our islands with an indigenous Native American tribe that maintains its way of living much as it has for millennia. The villages features a restaurants, a craft market and serves as a springboard for nature tours with traditional indigenous guides.

Deep Sea Fishing - Panama by definition means "an abundance of fish" and Bocas offers some of Panama's best fishing. The waters of Bocas Del Toro abound in tropical game fish and are considered-among the best fishing grounds in the world. Rarely do Bocas sports fisherman return empty handed.

Bahia Honda Tours - The indigenous community of Bahia Honda is also on Bastimentos Island. There are a few tours which give a taste of local culture while exploring some of the most interesting spots within Bocas del Toro. Some of the Bahia Honda residents make clothes and bags from natural fibers found around the island. Different plants and trees can be made into different colored fibers that make up these one of a kind souvenirs.

Cayuko Fishing - For a real indigenous experience in Bocas del Toro this tour is a must. A local guide will take you throughout the bay of Bastimentos to try your luck at some fishing. Paddle along the mangroves in a dugout cayuko and fish for pargo (red snapper) and other fish that inhabit the area. You will get the true local experience as you fish using the same methods that the indigenous people have been doing for years.
